Privacy Notice
1. Who we are
TraitSeq Ltd (“TraitSeq”, “we”, “our” or “us”) provides omics analysis and biological interpretation products and services. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this notice, for the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
This notice explains how we handle personal information in connection with our current website, which at present is a holding page. We will update this notice, and publish the update on this page, when the full website goes live.
2. What this page collects
This is an introductory holding page. It does not contain an enquiry form and does not ask you to submit any personal information. Specifically:
- We do not run analytics or tracking on this page. There is no Google Analytics, no tag manager, no advertising pixels and no session-recording tools.
- We do not load third-party fonts or trackers. The page does not call third-party content services that would receive your data.
The limited information involved is:
- Server log information. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records technical information when the page is served, which may include your IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system information, the date and time of your visit, and the page requested. This is used to operate the site securely and diagnose problems.
- Functional cookies. The page uses a small number of functional cookies to remember interface choices during your visit. These are not used for analytics or advertising. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect how the page behaves.
- Email you send us. The page includes a link to email us at enquiries@traitseq.com; if you email us, we will process your email address, your name if you provide it, and the content of your message, in order to respond.
3. Why we process it, and our lawful basis

Where we rely on legitimate interests, our interest is in running a secure, functioning website and replying to people who contact us. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests (see section 7).
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising. We share it only where necessary to run the site or meet legal obligations. Recipients may include:
- Our website hosting provider, Cloudways, which is a managed hosting platform operated on DigitalOcean infrastructure and processes server log data necessary to host and serve our website.
- Our website development and support provider, Sponge, which builds and maintains the site.
- Our email and IT service providers, in order to receive and respond to emails you send us.
- Professional advisers, regulators or law enforcement, where required by law.
All providers acting on our behalf are required to process personal information securely and only in accordance with our instructions.
5. International transfers
Our website is hosted by Cloudways using DigitalOcean infrastructure located in the United Kingdom (London). Personal information processed in connection with website hosting is stored within the UK.
Some third-party providers may process personal information outside the United Kingdom. Where personal information is transferred outside the UK, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with UK data protection law, such as an adequacy decision or the use of the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, where applicable.
6. How long we keep it
- Server logs: retained on our hosting environment for as long as reasonably necessary for security, operational and troubleshooting purposes. Server logs are not automatically deleted and are securely deleted when no longer required.
- Emails you send us: retained for up to 24 months following our last meaningful communication, unless a longer period is required by law, is necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, or a contractual relationship is established.
When personal information is no longer required, it is securely deleted or anonymised.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to: request access to your personal information; request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information; request erasure in certain circumstances; request restriction of processing; object to processing based on legitimate interests; request transfer of your information where applicable; and, where processing is based on consent, withdraw that consent at any time.

8. Complaints
If you have concerns about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve them. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO):
