Why we built TraitSeq.
The sustainable development of biological products is fraught with complexities and surprises: promising candidates in the lab don’t translate to the field, performance varies across environments, and the connection between inputs or edits and phenotypes is unclear. This results in long and inefficient development cycles with R&D reliant upon extensive field trials to accommodate variations, and products lack meaningful differentiation or evidence of environment-specific performance.
Whilst R&D teams are increasingly turning to omics data to provide answers, converting data into biological narrative is a multi-disciplinary feat.
We built TraitSeq to solve that. At the Earlham Institute we integrated the latest in computational biology, machine learning, and AI interpretation with systems biology and omics research to bridge the gap between statistical output and mechanistic insight. Spinning out in 2024, the TraitSeq platform is now supporting bioinformatics, R&D, product, marketing, and senior leadership teams internationally.
